Somchith Alfonso- Matriarch

Somchith (pronounced Sum Chi) grew
up in the small country of Laos. She
immigrated to the United States during
the communist war at just 19 years old
with no family support, while providing
for her younger brother in a new world
alone. She worked 3 jobs just to survive
and soon married Christina's father at
the age of 21.

Somchith began sharing her Asian dishes with a small Cuban community in Miami, FL where she started to gain multiple requests for catering to parties and celebrations. She began with small children's birthday parties and soon after the word got around of her infamous fried rice dishes, Somchith was asked by her co-workers to cook for the annual Christmas company party.  It wasn't long after that the mother and daughter team put together their own catering business and started to serve all of Austin.
Me So Hungry was born.

Somchith continues to create fresh, innovative Asian cuisine here in Austin, TX. Stop by and meet the food guru for yourself and share your favorite Asian dishes with her. It's almost a gurantee she can whip it up on her wok! She's full of life and energy, with a true passion for delicious dishes from all cultures.

Christina Alfonso
Co-Owner & Catering Events Director

Christina Alfonso grew up in Austin, TX, where she opened up "Me So Hungry" in March 2009. She has owned her own catering company for almost 4 years. With a desire and strong passion to share her father's traditional Cuban cuisine, she started up her first mobile restaurant, Cienfuegos Cafe in 2006, specializing in Latin Caribbean dishes.

Soon after reconnecting with her Vietnamese/Lao roots, she decided it was time for her to introduce a creative flair on the Asian cooking concept. Taking it to a new degree, Christina wanted to perfect Asian cuisine in giving Austinites a taste of fresh, delicious dishes that she grew up eating in her mother's kitchen. For several years of working for others, never feeling completely satisfied or challenged enough in her line of work, Christina pondered the idea of running her own mobile vending catering truck. Offering nothing but the best in fresh ingredients, flavors and innovative and creative dishes that would leave Austinites' mouths watering for more.

After years of determined persistence, trial and error, all while building her own restaurant and catering services, in came the perfect thought..." You've got to stick with what you know and just perfect it. " Me So Hungry was born. Nestled in downtown Austin's laid back atmosphere, surrounded by a unique and diverse crowd of those just in need of some fresh air paired with some of the best Asian spiced dishes in town.

Christina has over 9 years of hands- on experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Running everything from managing fast food chains and restaurants, event planning, coordinating and catering for company picnics and special events, to broad scope marketing and advertising, while increasing sales for large franchises all within the Austin area.

Eric Ariola- Co-Owner & East side Operations Director
                                                                                          eric@mesohungry.biz

A St. Edwards Alumni and Austin born and raised entrepreneur, Eric was brought up in a Mexican American household where his passion for cooking was ignited. Eric, a vegetarian of over 10 years was tired of over paying for foods that semi- accomodated his discriminating pallete. Though he gave up meat years ago, his stomach still craved the hearty fillings of delicious foods that satisfied a growing Austin boy.

It was shortly after meeting his business partner, Christina Alfonso, that Eric realized their common dreams and ambitions in owning a cafe in Austin. One in which he could express his innovative creations for foods they both enjoyed sharing. This is where 'Asian Fusion' with an Austin flair began. By combining their backgrounds while never forgetting their diverse roots, the couple put together a menu that surpassed typical Asian traditions and turned it into something unique. A taste put together during sleepless late night experiments in their first apartment kitchen.

With Eric's natural understanding for what really makes a vegetarians' mouth water, he put together a creative menu of standard ingredients Christina knew and loved. The contrasting and textured elements somehow meshed so well, that it had to be shared. His dishes were a daring take on well known Southeast Asian cuisine, sprinkled with the memories of his mother's kitchen.
